"How much will it cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks us about van wraps. The honest answer is that it depends on your van and how much of it you want covered, but that doesn't help much when you're trying to set a budget.
So in this guide we've laid out estimated UK prices for van wraps and van signage, explained what pushes the price up or down, and shared a few ways to get more for your money. If you'd like a more general overview of the options first, take a look at our complete guide to vehicle signage.
Estimated Van Wrap Prices
Every vehicle graphics project we take on is bespoke to the client's requirements, so we don't have standard prices. The ranges below are estimates based on typical projects for vans across Sussex, London and the South East. Your actual cost will depend on your vehicle, the coverage and the design, and we'll give you an accurate quote once we know the details.
Cut Vinyl Lettering and Logos
Estimated £150 - £500+
Your logo, phone number, website and services applied in cut vinyl to the sides and back doors. The most affordable way to brand a van, and a good fit for sole traders and smaller vans.
Partial Wrap or Half Wrap
Estimated £500 - £2,500
Printed graphics covering key areas such as the sides, rear or the back half of the van, with the original paintwork left visible elsewhere. A popular middle ground that gives real impact without the cost of covering every panel.
Full Van Wrap
Estimated £1,500 - £4,500+
Every painted panel covered in a printed design or a new colour. Larger vans, high roofs and premium finishes like matte, satin or metallic films sit towards the top of the range.
Design
Estimated £100 - £400+
If you already have print-ready artwork, this can be low or nothing at all. A fully bespoke design created around your van's shape takes more time.
What Affects the Cost of a Van Wrap?
Two vans that look similar on paper can end up with quite different quotes. These are the main things that make the difference.
1. The Size of the Van
More van means more vinyl and more fitting time. A small van like a Ford Transit Connect or Citroen Berlingo needs far less material than a long wheelbase, high roof Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit. Luton and box vans can be cheaper to wrap than you'd think, as the flat box sides are quick to fit.
2. How Much You Cover
This is the biggest lever on price. Moving from cut vinyl lettering to a partial wrap, or from a partial wrap to a full wrap, is usually a bigger jump than any other factor. If you're unsure which level you need, our guide to full wraps, part wraps and signwriting walks through the pros and cons of each.
3. The Shape of the Van
Deep curves, recessed panels, bumpers, mirrors and door handles all take extra time to wrap neatly. Vans with lots of flat panels are quicker and cheaper to fit than those with complex body lines.
4. The Vinyl You Choose
For wraps we recommend high quality cast vinyl, which moulds into curves and recesses and lasts much longer. Cheaper calendered vinyl is fine for flat areas and short-term graphics, but can shrink and lift on curves. Specialist finishes such as matte, satin, metallic or chrome cost more than a standard gloss print.
5. The Condition of the Van
Vinyl needs a sound, clean surface. Rust, dents, flaking paint or old graphics all need dealing with before a wrap goes on, and removing old vinyl and adhesive adds labour time. We survey every vehicle before a full wrap so there are no surprises on the day.
6. The Design
A simple layout using your existing logo and brand colours is quicker to produce than a full custom design with photography and illustration. Either way, a good design is worth investing in, as it's what people will remember.
7. How Many Vans You Have
Fleet work is more efficient. Once a design is created and set up for one van, rolling it out across several of the same model is quicker per vehicle, so the cost per van usually comes down.
Is a Van Wrap Worth the Money?
A van wrap is a one-off cost that keeps working for years. A well looked after wrap typically lasts between 3 and 7 years, and your van is seen by thousands of people every week, whether it's on a job, in traffic or parked outside a customer's house.
Compare that with online advertising, where you pay every time someone clicks, and the cost per day soon looks very reasonable. A full wrap also protects the original paintwork underneath from light scratches and sun fade, which can help when you come to sell the van or hand back a lease vehicle.
Ways to Get More From Your Budget
Start With the Sides and Back
Most people see your van from the side or from behind in traffic. If budget is tight, put your money into strong side and rear graphics first.
Use Your Van's Colour
Choosing a van in, or close to, your brand colour means a partial wrap or cut vinyl can look like a full wrap for a fraction of the cost.
Keep the Design Simple
Bold, clear designs with your logo, services, phone number and website are easier to read on the move and often cheaper to produce.
Plan for the Whole Fleet
If you're likely to add more vans, design something that scales across different models. It keeps your brand consistent and makes future vans quicker to brand.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to wrap a van?
Cut vinyl lettering can often be fitted in a few hours. A full wrap usually takes one to three days depending on the size of the van and the design, plus time beforehand for design and printing.
Do I need to tell the DVLA or my insurer?
If a wrap changes the main colour of your van, you should tell the DVLA. It's also sensible to let your insurer know about any wrap or signage so your policy stays valid.
Can I wrap a leased van?
Usually yes, but check your lease agreement first. Many lease companies are happy for vans to be wrapped as long as the vinyl is removed professionally before the van is returned.
Will a wrap damage my paintwork?
On original factory paint in good condition, a quality wrap fitted and removed by professionals shouldn't cause damage. Resprayed or damaged panels carry more risk, which is why we check every vehicle first.
